One of my favorite ways to see Paris at night is from the top of the Arc de Triomphe but be sure to allow enough time to take in the magnificent 360 degree view of the city of lights…which is exactly what we didn’t do!
After spending a leisurely multi-hour dinner, we suddenly realized the top of the monument was closing soon! Luckily, we were dining close by.
Quickly moving (ok, nearly running) through the underground walkway, we arrived at the ticket window out of breath and begging to be let up. Normally, the last admittance is 45 minutes before closing. Having pity on us and knowing there was no way for us to climb the 200 plus steps before closing, the attendant took us up on the elevator. From there is was only about 40 steps to the top viewing area.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have any time to visit the museum or gift shop. But regardless, the visit left us breathless…both figuratively and literally.
